STARTS
The Bishop of Birmingham is delighted to announce that Revd Dr Noel Phillips has been appointed as the next
incumbent of the parish of Curdworth, Middleton & Wishaw, in the deanery of Aston & Sutton Coldfield.
Noel is currently curate at Wyken in the diocese of Coventry serving in the parish of St Mary Magdalen & the
Risen Christ. During his curacy Noel has had a wealth of training including leading the parish during a vacancy and
working in multi-church benefices. With roots in Birmingham as well as Coventry, before ordination Noel was a
teacher, most recently in Senior Roles and as a Chemistry teacher at Henry VIII School in Coventry.
Bishop David says, ‘I am delighted Noel has heard a clear calling and vocation to serve some of our beloved rural
communities in CofE Birmingham. Noel already has knowledge of the area and brings significant experience in
multi-church parishes as well as that of teaching prior to ordination, both of which will serve him well in this new
role. I am sure Curdworth, Middleton and Wishaw will be greatly blessed by his ministry, as I know Noel and the
family will be by them, I offer prayers of thanksgiving and joy for them all.’
Noel comments, I am very excited to be heading back to Birmingham diocese and in particular I am very much
looking forward to serving the Parish of Curdworth, Middleton and Wishaw and working with the experienced
team that they have in place to discern what God is calling us all to as we seek to further the Kingdom.
Noel is married to Jenny and they have two children Ellie (6) and Thomas (5).
Arrangements for Noel’s institution and start date are in discussion but he and the family are very much looking
forward to moving to Curdworth as soon as current circumstances permit. Please join us all in praying for Noel
and the family in this transition. Also remember Wyken as they bid farewell to their curate as well as Curdworth,
Middleton and Wishaw as they prepare to welcome their new priest.
